About the Writer, Amy Muga

Amy Muga is a mother, a writer, a counselor and a committed advocate for social justice and human rights. She holds a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Miriam College (formerly Maryknoll College), a Professional Diploma in Family Ministries at the Loyola School of Theology as well as a Certificate of Clinical Apprenticeship in Pastoral Counseling from the Ruben M. Tanseco Center for Family Ministries (RMT-CEFAM) at the Ateneo de Manila University. She is a senior counselor at RMT-CeFaM.

Amy is passionate with her work as a counselor, especially with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing adversities in life. She was a community counselor as well as coordinator of RMT-CEFAM's satellite center in the urban poor community of Payatas from 2010 to 2012.

She has worked with various community-based organizations, faith-based groups and human rights organizations on capacity building and community-based programs. Together with other volunteers, she provides psychosocial intervention activities to communities affected by disasters and difficult circumstances.
